UBC's International Genetically Engineered Machine (UBC iGEM) team is a student-led genetic engineering design team composed of undergraduate students supported by graduate advisors and faculty. We develop annual Synthetic Biology projects to address modern issues at a local or global level. Since 2009, our team has represented UBC and British Columbia at the iGEM competition with ~350+ other student teams from across the globe. Our goal as a team is to produce a feasible, tangible project that employs cellular engineering but also considers ethical, societal, and economic implications of our project, following responsible research & innovation.
We are looking for passionate and innovative students for the upcoming competition season. iGEM projects are not only biology-based, but are multi-faceted through science, programming, business, design, engineering, and much more. If you are interested in putting the skills you are learning in university to practice, meeting motivated students from UBC and across the globe, and working at the cutting edge of biotechnology, then iGEM is definitely for you. Learn about our team’s iGEM history in more detail on our website, [www.ubcigem.com.](http://www.ubcigem.com./)
